This Privacy Policy explains which personal data we process when you use our online shop, our services, and the AAC Control App, for what purposes such processing takes place, and what rights data subjects have.

We process personal data in particular in accordance with Swiss data protection law. Where the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union (GDPR) or other mandatory data protection regulations apply, we also comply with their requirements.

2. Principles and Legal Bases for Data Processing

We process personal data only to the extent necessary to provide our website and app, process orders, fulfil our contractual and legal obligations, communicate with customers, or for other purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Where the GDPR applies, depending on the purpose, we base the processing in particular on:

  • the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures,
  • compliance with legal obligations,
  • our legitimate interests, in particular in the secure and economical operation of our online shop, fraud prevention, customer service, and the improvement of our products and services, provided that the interests or fundamental rights of the data subject do not override those interests, or

When visiting btech-shop.com, technically necessary information may be processed.

This may include in particular:

This data is required in particular to provide the website, ensure its security and functionality, and — where legally permitted or following the relevant consent — analyse the use of our website and improve our services.

6. Shopify

Our online shop is operated using Shopify. Shopify provides, in particular, the technical infrastructure for our online shop, checkout, order management, and related functions.

When you use our shop, Shopify processes personal data relating to access to and use of our shop. Information that you submit through our shop is processed with Shopify in order to provide the relevant services.

Depending on the specific processing activity, Shopify may act both as a service provider or processor for b-tech and, for certain processing purposes of its own, as an independent controller.

Shopify Network Intelligence and Enhanced Services

Where Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled in our shop, Shopify may use information about interactions and transactions with our shop together with information from interactions with Shopify and other Shopify merchants in order to provide so-called Enhanced Services.

These services may in particular be used to personalise the shopping experience, provide relevant offers or advertising, improve analytics, prevent fraud, and better understand how customers interact with shops and advertising.

In this context, information may be processed by Shopify and service providers that may also be located in other countries.

Shopify states that a merchant’s data is not made directly accessible to other Shopify merchants.

Where consent is required for such processing, it is obtained through the relevant privacy and cookie settings. For customers from the EEA, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, Shopify requires appropriate consent and withdrawal options for certain advertising-related Enhanced Services.

7. Orders and Contract Processing

When you place an order with us, we process the information required for this purpose.

This may include in particular:

  • first and last name,
  • billing and delivery address,
  • email address,
  • telephone number, where provided or required for delivery,
  • products ordered,
  • order number,
  • purchase price and payment status,
  • shipping and tracking information, and
  • communications relating to the order.

We use this information in particular to process and deliver your order, process payments, communicate with customers, handle returns and warranty claims, and comply with statutory retention and documentation obligations.

For payments, we use in particular Shopify Payments and PayPal.

Depending on the selected payment method, the information required to process the payment is processed by the respective payment service provider.

b-tech generally receives only the information we require to confirm and allocate the payment and to process the order.

For the delivery of orders, we transmit the information required for shipping to the respective transport service provider, in particular Swiss Post.

We also use 17TRACK for shipment tracking. In this context, shipment numbers, delivery status, and related delivery information may in particular be processed.

The processing is carried out for the purpose of performing and tracking the delivery.

13. Lucky Orange

We use Lucky Orange to analyse and improve the user experience of our website.

Lucky Orange may in particular create heatmaps and session recordings and analyse interactions with our website.

This may include, for example, clicks, scrolling behaviour, navigation, device information, and other information relating to the use of the website.

The purpose is to identify usability issues and improve our online shop.

We use UpPromote to manage our affiliate and partner programme.

The withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

16. Cart Reminders

Where legally permitted or following the relevant consent, we may send email reminders relating to a shopping process that was started but not completed.

For this purpose, the email address provided and information relating to the shopping cart may in particular be processed.

Such marketing communications can be unsubscribed from at any time.

17. Brevo PushOwl

We use Brevo PushOwl to provide browser push notifications to website visitors upon request.

Push notifications are enabled only if the user permits this through their browser or device.

In this context, technical device or browser identifiers, subscription information, and information relating to delivery and interaction with push campaigns may in particular be processed.

Permission can be withdrawn at any time through the settings of the relevant browser or device.

We use Judge.me for product reviews and review requests.

For this purpose, order information and contact details may in particular be processed where necessary to send a review request after a purchase or associate a review with an order.

Links in such messages may contain tracking parameters in order to attribute the origin of a review or interaction.

We and our service providers may process personal data where necessary to provide a secure shopping and payment process, protect our systems and customers, and detect, investigate, or prevent potentially fraudulent, unlawful, or abusive activities.

This may in particular include technical device and network data, IP addresses, order information, and payment and transaction information.

We may process or disclose personal data where necessary to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests from authorities or courts, establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, or investigate possible breaches of our terms and policies.

AAC Control App

21. General Information About the AAC Control App

The AAC Control App is used to connect to, configure, manage, and update compatible AAC modules.

No user account or personal profile is required to use the app.

During normal use of the app, we limit the processing of personal data to what is necessary for its functions.

22. Bluetooth Communication

The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to detect compatible AAC modules nearby and establish a connection with them.

Device identifiers and technical information relating to the AAC module may be processed locally.

Communication between the smartphone and AAC module generally takes place locally via Bluetooth.

Vehicle and configuration information exchanged in this process is not transmitted to b-tech during normal operation solely as a result of this Bluetooth communication.

23. Location Permission on Android

Depending on the Android version and device configuration, location permission may be required to search for Bluetooth devices.

This permission is used solely where technically required for Bluetooth device discovery.

b-tech does not use this permission to track your location and does not transmit your location to b-tech.

24. In-App Purchases

Optional digital functions may be purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

In order to verify and provide a purchase, the following information may in particular be processed:

  • purchase or transaction information,
  • purchase token or corresponding proof of purchase,
  • product ID,
  • platform used (Apple or Google), and
  • serial number of the AAC module for which the licence is activated.

Payment information such as full credit card details is processed by Apple or Google and is not stored by b-tech.

25. Licence Activation

In order to permanently assign a purchased additional function to the correct AAC module, we process and/or store in particular:

  • serial number of the AAC module,
  • activated licence or function,
  • purchase information required for verification, and
  • platform of purchase (Apple App Store or Google Play).

No personal b-tech user account is created for this purpose.

The processing is required to provide the purchased function and assign it to the relevant AAC module.

26. Firebase

We use Google Firebase for licence processing and the provision of firmware updates.

In this context, licence information, module serial numbers, technical backend requests, and technically generated connection information such as the IP address may in particular be processed.

We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or personalised advertising in the AAC Control App.

27. Firmware Updates

The AAC Control App can download and install firmware updates for compatible AAC modules.

The firmware is provided through our Firebase infrastructure.

Technically required connection information may be processed in this context.

We do not use this processing to create a personal user or vehicle profile.

28. Diagnostic Data – Only With Explicit Consent

The AAC Control App does not transmit diagnostic data automatically.

A diagnostic upload takes place only if you start it manually and explicitly confirm it.

Depending on the technical condition of the module, a diagnostic upload may in particular contain the following information:

  • VIN or vehicle identification information, where technically available,
  • serial number of the AAC module,
  • hardware and software version,
  • vehicle model information,
  • module configuration and settings,
  • enabled or disabled systems,
  • activation mode and technical status information,
  • stored faults and error codes,
  • occurrence counters,
  • time or uptime references,
  • technical snapshots,
  • recently recorded technical runtime or telemetry data,
  • shortened command/response metadata,
  • app version,
  • build number,
  • package name, and
  • time of upload.

This data is used exclusively for technical support, error analysis and root-cause investigation, and to improve product quality, stability, and reliability.

No such diagnostic upload takes place without your explicit consent.

29. No App Analytics and No Advertising

The AAC Control App currently uses no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, and no personalised advertising.

We do not create advertising profiles through the app based on driving behaviour or vehicle usage.

Disclosure, Storage, and Security

30. Recipients of Personal Data

We disclose personal data only where necessary for the purposes described, where a legal basis exists, or where you have provided the relevant consent.

Recipients may in particular include:

  • Shopify,
  • payment service providers,
  • shipping and tracking service providers,
  • newsletter and communication providers,
  • analytics and website optimisation services,
  • review platforms,
  • affiliate service providers,
  • Apple and Google in connection with in-app purchases, and
  • Google Firebase in connection with the AAC Control App.

b-tech does not sell personal data.

31. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area or process data in other countries.

Personal data may therefore also be transferred to or processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from Swiss or European data protection law.

Where required, such transfers are based on a recognised adequate level of data protection, appropriate contractual safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or another transfer mechanism provided for by law.

32. Retention Period

We generally store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or for as long as statutory retention obligations apply.

Order, payment, and business records are retained in accordance with applicable statutory retention requirements.

Marketing data is generally stored until consent is withdrawn or for as long as it is required for the relevant purpose.

Licence information relating to the AAC Control App may be stored for as long as necessary to permanently assign a purchased function to the relevant AAC module and, where applicable, restore it.

Voluntarily submitted diagnostic data is stored only for as long as necessary for support, error analysis, and the related technical purposes.

33. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration, and disclosure.

Despite appropriate security measures, absolute security cannot be guaranteed for data transmissions over the internet.

Depending on the applicable data protection law, you may in particular have the following rights:

  • access to your personal data,
  • rectification of inaccurate data,
  • deletion of personal data,
  • restriction of certain processing activities,
  • provision or transfer of certain data,

35. Identity Verification

To protect your personal data, we may request appropriate information before processing certain privacy requests in order to verify your identity.

We request only the information necessary for appropriate verification.

Where provided by law, an authorised representative may exercise data protection rights on your behalf. In such cases, we may request appropriate proof of authorisation.

You will not be disadvantaged for exercising your statutory data protection rights.

36. Withdrawal of Consent and Marketing

Where processing is based on your consent, you may generally withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.

Marketing emails can be unsubscribed from using the unsubscribe link contained in the relevant message.

Browser push notifications can be disabled through the relevant browser or device settings.

Cookie and tracking consents can be changed or withdrawn through the privacy or cookie settings provided on our website.

Where applicable data protection law provides for this, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority.

As a general rule, we do not make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you based solely on automated processing of personal data, unless we expressly inform you otherwise or such processing is permitted by law.

Our website, online shop, and AAC Control App are not specifically directed at children.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children in breach of applicable legal requirements.
